So today Bob came back into the mix. I started his "high intensity" workout for week 2 of his program, and man oh man, my inner and outer thighs are screaming right now. I still have to get through Jillian's level two, but I am taking a slight breather right now and letting the "jello" firm up in my legs.
This morning I got in my six miles, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. I am so glad that I got it in before going to work because it started to rain by the time I was heading home. Talk about good timing.
I found a new app for my iphone today - the Livestrong app. It keeps track of intake, expending and weight. I'm gonna give it a whirl and see how it holds up.
Ok, so I gave my legs a few minutes to rest and then headed back into Jillian hell. First and foremost, the plank moves still suck. Unless you are some pilates or yoga guru, I think you would agree that these moves suck. Sure, they do wonders for making you feel like a plank if you can do them right, but that doesn't make them suck any less. I got through the first few actually in the plank move without modification, but that quickly wore out. Who knows, maybe one day I will actually be able to stay in that damn move ...
Holy camoley.... inner thighs aching? You are one tough cookie. Inner thighs are tough to work out. And if they're aching, it really means you were isolating them. That's great that you put them to work.
ReplyDeleteFor surviving plank pose... some thoughts. You can try holding plank pose for just a few seconds at a time as practice. No plank jacks or ab twists, just a plain old hold. Then, you can increase the hold time up to over a minute. As for making it through the plank moves, just stick your butt up a bit higher. I noticed that even Natalie is up quite high on her plank, so I say it's fair game. Then as you improve, you can focus on lowering. But even a couple inches makes all the moves significantly easier. You're not working your abs as much, but you're getting a harder workout for arms/shoulders b/c more weight is on your arms, and you're getting an almost full range of motion.
by the way, lemme know how the app works out. That sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the midst of painting the new place... I will wait to send pics when there is something worth showing... i.e. not a mess!
