Ok, so today was a fabulous day out. It was in the 60s and my walk tonight was fabulous - it was 54 when I started and 50 when I finished. Awesome for December weather. Oh, but there was a drawback ... since I wasn't wearing my gloves, my fingers look like sausages. That's right my friends, when the weather is warm outside and I go for long walks, and don't keep my arms elevated (which can look rather awkward), my fingers tend to swell up just a tish. It can be painful if I don't take the time to flex my fingers and keep them elevated while I'm walking. I noticed this around mile 4 tonight and started flexing and keeping my arms at 90 degrees so that it wouldn't get any worse. Oh the joys of not quite being hydrated enough (this never happens when I have enough fluids in me).
Oh, and the mistake food from yesterday, yeah, let's just say I felt like I was moving like a snail. In reality I was keeping my normal pace, but it felt like it was taking twice the effort. Lesson learned. I was going to do 9 miles tonight, but with it taking 3 miles to warm up my shins and my hands feeling like they were going to explode, I figured less was better - and I stopped at 7. I will have to make up the missing two miles during my other walks this week.
On to Jillian and level one of the 30 day shred.
Differences the second time around?
The most obvious difference to me was that I could keep up. I did all the push-ups (albeit following Anita, but I kept up with repetitions), squats, raises, lunges and didn't have to stop and talk myself into not keeling over.
On the other hand - my hamis feel like a worn out HEMI. Yesterday's workout was definitely very intensive on the hamis, something that the 30 day shred did not really push. Yesterday made a dent, and I am paying for it today. The butt kicks were HARD because lifting my heels using that particular muscle felt like pulling my leg out of a vat of drying concrete.
I do hope that this mixing things up helps increase the endurance of my hamis, because if today told me anything - it is that my hamis need the work.
Hydration, yes very key.
ReplyDeleteAs for hurting hamis, that's good!! Those are hard to workout and if you're feeling a tinge there, then it means they're working hard. They're gonna be rock solid when this is all done!
