Yin Yoga
I forgot to mention that last Tuesday, I took a class at CuraYoga called Yin Yang yoga. It's a very different style of yoga from my usual hatha and hot yoga. Yin Yang yoga changes the pace of your practice. Essentially you slow it down... way down. Some of the poses we held for as long as 5 minutes. At first, the poses felt very easy, but as we held them for longer and longer, I noticed my breathing changing, and my body being challenged in different ways. Our classroom also had soothing music, candles and the gorgeous scent of lavender oil, so the experience was very relaxing. I highly recommend giving this style of yoga a try.

This actually sounds quite awesome, but I don't think I would actually be able to take a yoga class until I can through 30 minutes with Ms. Suzanne Deason without feeling like I'm gonna die.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll be able to do it no prob... if you can make it to level 3 JM, then yin will be no problem at all. It's basically just stretching. Here are some of the moves to give you an idea.... you can hold each one and count to 100 or 200. http://www.yinyoga.com/ys2_2.0_yinyoga_asanas.php
