Whoa Nelly - Day 5

Ok, so today was my second day pairing Bob against Jillian - but today Bob was about sculpting and not cardio. This was a rather interesting feat considering Jillian's level one movements.

Yesterday Janet said her shoulders felt like they were exploding from the moves. I was totally expecting this to happen today because of the double-dipping on the upper and lower body sans cardio; but, you know what? I felt great today while taking on JM.

Granted, the moves that really focused on the shoulders and quads were burning a little bit today, but I had Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" and OMG that song on Guitar Hero - brutal. But, if you watch the official video online, watching the guitar and bass player is freaking amazing. Little sidebar there, but I really enjoy that song and it kept me busting through JM along with Charlie Daniels Band - "Devil Went Down to Georgia" - the fiddling is awesome. Wish I knew how to do that ...

Ok, enough of the tunes and onto the actual work that was done. One thing that I'm noticing with all the jumping ... my shins are literally on fire. I've added in additional stretching and my dose of icy hot to help them get through this. One thing I can't afford is to have them start to act up. If you've never had shin splints, consider yourself lucky ... when it happens, you literally cannot flex your foot ... this means when you're walking, your foot doesn't move, it just trails. When you jump ... you get the picture. Shins are getting pampering right now.

As far as the workout went, I am actually noticing that I am paying more attention to my breathing because the circuits aren't taking as much out of me as they did the first time around. Focusing on my breathing really helps - and I'm also noticing that my ab movements are becoming more defined ... higher lifts. Woohoo, it means there is actually muscle underneath all that and it is actually working :-)

  1. I'm glad the shoulder moves went smoother than mine. Agreed on the breathing... instead of panting and just trying to stay alive, I actually notice breathes instead of desperate sucks of air. :)

Josh downloaded Through the Fire and the Flames when we were on vacation in Miami (after playing it on Guitar Hero) and played it incessantly. I will always think of a bright Miami sky and a delicious mojito when I hear that song.
