Ouch, crack, snap, pop, ouch, aches and pains (rice krispies and then some). My reflection on the first week of the 30 days ... and I'm not even through the first level.
On a more positive note, I am noticing quite a bit of a difference, even with my walk/runs. I went for a second walk tonight because I needed to clear my head after a dreadful afternoon in the office. I found myself finishing my normal 6 mile route 15 minutes faster than I did the last time I timed it. That is quite an improvement for me.
After I got back home I had to let the legs and feet simmer down before jumping on day 7 of the Jillian bandwagon, and I finally got to doing my shred around 10pm. Tonight, just for shits and giggles, I decided that I would do the workout with my HRM to see where I was at, and how much this 24 minutes really does for me. I was surprised.
In the 24 minutes of the workout, I was in my target range for 23 minutes. My average HR was 150 and my max was 165. For just a 24 minute workout, that is pretty damn good -- for ME. I also managed to burn through just about 200 calories in that 24 minutes. I think the numbers definitely help with the motivation of it all.
All-in-all, this week has been a very testing, yet positive experience. I am dreading having to start level 2, because that means I am going to be reflecting on my opening words for the first several days of that level . . . definitely not looking forward to it. But if the payoff is increasing my pace for my walk/runs, then it is well worth it in the end.
Here's to one week down, and three to go.
Thanks for those numbers - they are indeed motivating! Especially the impact on your cardio times - amazing really. If I can dig out my HRM, I'll give it a try and post as well.
