It's Not Easy ... BUT

It is getting easier. As Day 6 comes to a close and I read about Janet's knee I have to wonder if something like that is in store for me with my back, knees or shins. You see, my back and knees are problem children that like to show they are in charge every once in a while. When they decide they are in charge, I am literally powerless to do anything about it. I hope they allow me to get through this as long as I continue to provide them with some TLC.

I have been using my yoga blanket to help out my lower back on the abs section, and it definitely helps alleviate the pressure. I will have to keep this up so my back does not start a rebellion.

My shins, well, they have been getting the icy hot treatment when they are feeling a little mistreated after my longer (10+ mile) walks. So far, that is keeping them happy.

My knees, well, let's just say I am being extra careful when doing Jillian's multiple up and down from the floor so that they do not decide they are going to walk off the job - quite literally.

About the Shredding

I do have to say today went a lot smoother than I thought it would. This morning I froze my butt off while getting in a longer walk (9 miles) and because of the fluctuating temperature, I thought my knees were going to give me a problem when I played Simon Says with Jillian. My knees decided today was not the day for a revolution, and I am literally jumping for joy.

I am finding the movements are getting easier and I am finding that I am leaning more towards emulating Natalie (or at least as close as I can manage) through some of the circuits. But I digress, I am not following Natalie during circuit 2 when the static lunges take place. My legs are not in a position to be able to hit the knee to the floor and still stand back up ... so sorry, maybe another day.

Is it possible that I might actually be able to move to Level 2 on day 11?

Changing Weather

With the weather turning at the flip of a coin around here, it is going to be challenging to get in all the miles/minutes I need for my distance training. I've been adding on the layers when I'm heading out on my walks and keeping hydrated. It is not quite the battle of the legs any longer for these walks, but more like the battle of the wits. It takes an awful lot to get me out of my nice warm bed, put on layers and step out into the rain/snow/chilled morning air and get these walks in. Hey, at least I know this, if I can make it through this February marathon with training in 30 degree weather, hell, I should be able to get through just about anything.

  1. Texas in February will be a nice treat for you then! It's great to hear you're getting out there and getting those miles in!
